Favorites Of Literature -- This record is 7 inches in diameter and plays at 16 2/3 RPM. Hardly any of these records exist, as most vinyl records were made to play at 45rpm or 33 1/3 rpm. The 78rpm records were phased out during the 1950s when the 45s and 33s began to take over. 16 2/3 rpm records were usually instructional records, teaching tools used to learn how to do things, or learn a foreign language, etc. The fact that these are the most difficult to find kinds of records makes this item an extreme odditiy. The original sleeve featuring a price list of similar records, produced and sold during the 1950s is included. Record players offering the 16 2/3 rpm speed were discontinued by the early 1970s. - EX8/VG6
